If you're a fan of daytime television programs, you're not alone. Soap operas, game shows, cooking shows and talk shows have been staple fare for decades. In fact, there are so many talk shows now that the Daytime Emmy® Award Show has two categories for informative and entertainment talk programming, as well as an award for "New Approaches" to the talk show format. Of course, daytime television wouldn't be complete without animated programs for children and courtroom programs for legal junkies.
Daytime television viewers are devout TV fans. If you're one of those dedicated fans of daytime TV, you might want to go to the 2015 Daytime Emmy® Awards Show, which is being held on April 26th in Hollywood. While you're there, you'll be in the company of all your favorite daytime stars like Dr. Phil, Oprah Winfrey, Kelly Rippa, Judge Alex and those opinionated ladies from "The View." The two organizations that produce the show are the New York based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Los Angeles based Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and you can be sure that they know how to throw a party. The stars and everybody involved with the programming show up dressed to the nines, hoping for a victory. But Daytime Emmys® aren't just handed out-they have to be earned. Ask Susan Lucci. The "All My Children" star had to wait over two decades before she won her Daytime Emmy®, and her character, Erica Kane, was a beloved part of a very popular show.
This year's show has some added intrigue. The popular soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" were cancelled last year, but several of the characters moved over to "General Hospital" and have been nominated for a daytime Emmy®. Writers have also shifted loyalties and moved over to "General Hospital." That means that some of the nominees may be nominated twice-once for each show. That extra subplot will make the show even more interesting, especially to the rabid throngs of fans who protested the demise of "One Life to Live" and "All My Children."
With the extra drama, this would be a great year to attend the Daytime Emmy® Awards Show, especially if you have never been to one. You can not only cheer on your favorite shows, actors and writers, you can celebrate with them if they win or make them feel better if they lose. Don't miss out.
